Adrian Mallon is an interactive multimedia developer and consultant with much experience in the design of computer-interactive solutions. He has traded as ADRIAN MALLON MULTIMEDIA since 1996. Before 1996 he was professional officer for multimedia at NICLR, the educational resources division of DENI where his designs won major multimedia industry awards—for computer graphics (1993), for interactive displays (1993) and for user interaction (1995). As Senior Research Fellow at the Interactive Systems Centre (ISC), University of Ulster, he set up and ran the multimedia studio at the University. While at ISC, he was a consultant to DEC (Galway), producing design guidelines for DEC's multimedia studio. His educational products have been used in schools throughout Northern Ireland and his design guidelines have been used for teaching purposes in a number of universities worldwide.

A lifetime gamer and pioneer in e-Learning game design, he is a member of ISAGA (the International Simulation and Gaming Association), and is especially interested in serious games for second-language acquisition and to support the learning of science in schools.

April 2016. PhD Thesis. I digitised my 1983 PhD thesis and put it online here: Science and Government in France, 1666-1699: Changing Patterns of Scientific Research and Development.
The slides for the paper I gave, "Designing for Accessibility and Better eLearning Game Design", at the Picteilín Creative Media Conference, Dundalk, 6 Sept. 2013, are here (.pdf). The paper was presented in synthetic text-to-speech (the Moira voice on a Mac).
March 2012. Published a 2005 version of Mars Mania that runs on the Internet (a Shockwave file).
See also the interactive & paper publications list (.pdf) and some pages on design visuals (.pdf).
Have a look at this little interactive eLearning tool, an ancient Roman abacus in Latin!
I converted some of the Dairy World children's puzzle games for the web but some are giving problems on some browsers:
Milking Time, Collecting the Milk, The Factory, The Milkround, Shopping, Overseas. I need to find out why on some computer configurations these old programs run, and on some machines they don't! I haven't tested them on PCs, just on Macs. It's not a 32-bit/64-bit issue but something to do with Shockwave.
